On the edge of Les Routières the little river Ton curves in the valley, in the middle of a verdant, undulating landscape between valleys and hills, hedges and bushes, cows and sheep…
Thanks to its micro-climat and very pure air, lichens grow sumptuous in the Thiérache.
The green pastures, continually wet of cause of their basement of impermeable clay,
are a basis of a healthy and balanced food for dairy cows, whose milk is used in the manufacture of the Maroilles, the regional cheese, recognized as « Appellation ».
Here you will find also apple trees of old French breeds, base of that other local product, the cider. And in the winter you see very well the mistletoe, preferably in fruit trees.
In this landscap raptors, such as the hawk, the owl and the kestrel, feel at home, as well as squirrels and deer.
At Les Routières you will find neither shops or church, the village is therefore a heaven of peace.
A small path, surround with hedges, will lead you to the restaured washhouse, with drinking water.
